At Championship Cards while picking up supplies, these bargain bin grab bags were 50% off, at 2 for $1. I picked up 10 total grab bags, and this is the 2nd bag we are looking through. As a Phillies collector we are looking for Phillies cards, any former Phillies, any Hall of Famer cards, as well as notable names from the time period. Additionally I personally collect Ryne Sandberg cards, so that is why we picked this grab bag with a 1990 Fleer Ryne Sandberg showing on the front.

On the back of the grab bag pack was a 1992 Topps Gold Todd Zeile! I remember how cool getting those Topps Gold cards was. It was like unwrapping the golden ticket when you saw that gold foil on the name, just simply stunning feeling when seeing those in the 1992 packs. Until the New Years Eve visit to Championship Cards I didn’t know there was another level of Topps Gold for the Topps Gold Star Winners!

I was convinced that these grab bags would be full of nothing but pure 80s and early 90s cards, especially with these cards showing. I was also convinced that these would be the best of the cards that would be in the grab bags, and being a collector of Ryne Sandberg I can’t be mad at that. Here is the back of the grab bag:

Time to open the grab bag and see what is inside, and if you saw the image at the very top, not much to write home about, so our suspicion was correct about the top cards being on the front and back. I was thrilled to find a Kirby Puckett! This was a Score 1996 Kirby Puckett, and a great shot they used for the front of the card.
