Since I’ve last written I’ve organized a Googke sheet based on this template – https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1BTDNNAsIv_g-27uaPGkzcvEnI0iD30KkKhyO1gM88dc/edit?usp=sharing&v=a085GSk8DZw
I’ve customized this quite a bit, splitting first and last names apart, adding a Rookie Card indicator, and an image column so I can add my own images eventually. This can then be turned into an inventory system by another Google app that I saw a demo of, which fits my needs at this time.
The long term goal is to have an online showcase of all the cards with backstory on a website. Similar to how Tanner Jones describes in his book.
For now I’ve made progress. 1980-2005 cards have been added into the sheet. I have yet to fill out the quantity for anything after 1981. I can tell this will have a tremendous impact on my collecting habits. In the later sets with a lot of inserts, I’m adding the ones that I want to the sheets, and it gives me a good sense of direction.
There isn’t much to show for my effort yet, but the benefits are going to be long lasting. I cannot wait to get the data entry done so I can start going through the cards to see what I have.
